There are moments when understanding begins to form before we possess the language to explain it. Something recognizable moves beneath the surface—a connection, memory, or realization—but disappears whenever we try to define it.

The Shape of Almost Knowing exists inside that interval. Its central form seems familiar without becoming identifiable, moving through competing colors, symbols, boundaries, and unfinished thoughts. It reflects the experience of approaching an answer that may become smaller the moment it is named.

This work developed through the accumulation and disruption of layers. Large fields of electric green, red, orange, and turquoise established the initial visual territories before sweeping curves and dimensional lines began crossing their boundaries.

Paint was brushed, scraped, stamped, drawn into, and partially covered. Repeating circles create a loose system across the surface, while distressed textures and abrupt geometric marks interrupt that system. Each addition responds to what came before it without completely concealing the earlier decisions, allowing the painting’s construction and revisions to remain visible.

This original work is designed to hold attention at multiple distances. Its saturated color and large central movement give it an immediate presence, while its layered marks, surface variations, and dimensional details invite closer examination.

The composition can shift between playful, mechanical, bodily, architectural, and psychological depending on the viewer’s perspective. It is especially suited to a space that benefits from strong color, sustained visual energy, and a piece capable of generating different interpretations over time.
